What the Meopotamians Knew About:

BD14866_.GIF (501 bytes) Mathematics: Their number system was based on 60.  From this came the 360 degree circle and 60 minutes in an hour.  They had tables for multiplication, division, square roots, quadratic equations, and the equivalent of zero.  They could also compute angles of right triangles, etc.

BD14866_.GIF (501 bytes)  Astronomy: Their lunar calendar was built around the moon's 30 day cycle.  The week had seven days.  They wrote of five planets, a sun and a moon.

BD14866_.GIF (501 bytes) Transportation:  They had chariots, carts, and sailboats.

BD14866_.GIF (501 bytes) Farming:  They excelled in farming and growing food.  The best farmers irrigated their crops by using water from canals.
